First snow of the season

It's hard not to mention the weather this time of year. We've been waiting for the snow to come. The boys with excitement, and us with less excitement. I guess that's because once the first snow comes it means the weather gets even colder and the snow is almost permanently on the ground. Today we were in search of the new snow gloves I bought Austin. This happens every year, gloves, hat, snow boots, something is always missing. I was glad to hear at the bus stop I wasn't the only parent searching for winter gear this morning. I absolutely hate to lose things so I am experiencing much turmoil over this today.

Tyler was very ready to play today. He lasted about 30 minutes before he came in. Pretty good I think.

San Antonio, we miss you!

We had a wonderful trip to San Antonio for Thanksgiving. We squeezed so much into our short trip that we arrived home 120% exhausted. Visiting with family, friends, Thanksgiving dinner, shopping and Riverwalk parade were all included. House hunting took the largest part but we are relieved to say we found a home! Now comes the negotiating.
Here are a few photos of the River parade. It was the first time we all had gone (James and I included).
I love, love, love mariachis.

Sitting by the river's edge. They had the best view.

One of my faves, the stock show and rodeo boat.

The kids fave, Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Winter Prep

The trees are bald. Every leaf has fallen and winter is on it's way. The garage is clean of all summer toys to make room for both cars to be housed. I can't believe this will be our 5th winter here. We are taking a trip to San Antonio soon and I'm pretty sure when we return the real cold weather will have set in.

We're really looking forward to visiting with our family and friends in TX. We always try hard squeeze everyone in for a visit but it's never easy! We're spending our first few days looking for houses. I'm pretty excited about this and hope it turns out well. The boys are very excited for the visit as well. Tyler is more excited about traveling on a plane I think. I hope to return from our trip with a sense of comfort that the move will go smoothly and that we will have found a new "home". We'll keep you posted.

The perfect fall colors

It's sad to think this is the last year I will see our big tree turn it's beautiful colors. I love fall here in Chicago. Morgan had her first experience playing in the leaves yesterday. This isn't a quarter of the leaves we're going to rake this month but enough for the kids to throw around. Do you remember that as a kid? The joy of jumping in the leaves. What fun.
